Inspiration behind "Street Warrior" Coloring Book:
Cree Artist Sam Bighetty lived on the streets in Calgary for over 11 years. He knows what is like to be alone, to be hungry, to be cold. He knows what its like to need a friend, to need a purpose, to need help.
His desire to give back to the people that helped, him, and to inspire others that are stuck in the same place he was is why he produced this book.
During the 2020 Covid 19 pandemic, Sam was forced to go back and live at the drop in centre in Calgary, Alberta. During this time is when he created these 10 images. He said they came from a place within, his inspiration was the people around him, the street brothers and sisters that have left this world, and creation itself.
He wants you to take a break and follow your heart. Listen to the words inside of you, listen to the words of truth that will guide you. As you colour, find yourself being healed, being acknowledged, and being free in life. Find yourself gaining the strength, power, and love to continue your journey, to lift your head up, and be happy to be alive. Many blessings to all of you, and thank you for your support!
