Description
Indigenous people have been utilizing medicinal and therapeutic plant extracts for thousands of years to heal the body, mind, and spirit. Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts that can be derived directly from the plant’s flowers, roots, stems, needles, or leaves.
The pungent, herbal bouquet of sage brings us out onto the wide-open, windswept summer prairies. Sage is found abundantly in dry areas of North America and has an herbal, spicy scent. It is used in ceremony for smudging; as a means to cleanse negativity from ourselves and our spaces. Our ancestors also used different varieties of sage for medicinal purposes. Sage represents youth and the warmth of the southern sun in the North American medicine wheel.
